LEE KLAFCZYNSKI (they/them)
Lee is a freelance photojournalist based in Indianapolis, Indiana.

They are proud to be a former staff photographer at The Akron Beacon Journal. They graduated from Kent State University in May 2015 with a B.S. in Visual Journalism, with a concentration in photojournalism.
​
Lee is captivated by and has a great love of people. They have a passion for telling stories through portraiture, sports features, and writing; but enjoy exploring all forms of storytelling.

Their work has been published by The New York Times, ESPN, LA Times, The Boston Globe, ISI Photos, IndyStar & more.
​
They were recognized by the Hearst Journalism Awards Program in 2015 earning Third Place in the National Photojournalism Championship working on a short-term project about gentrification in San Francisco. They've also been recognized by the Society of Professional Journalists, NPPA, Ohio News Photographers Association, Indiana News Photographers Association and CPOY.

If not photographing, they can be found practicing drums, writing or walking their Beabull, Ruby.

Lee is primarily available for work across the Midwest but is open to travel further distances if their vision is needed.
