LEE KLAFCZYNSKI (they/them)
Lee is a visual journalist and community-based storyteller in Indianapolis, Indiana. ​
​
​They graduated from Kent State University in May 2015 with a B.S. in Visual Journalism, with a concentration in photojournalism.
​
Lee has a genuine passion for connecting with people and loves being involved in the community.
​
​Their work has been published in The New York Times, ESPN, LA Times, The Boston Globe, ISI Photos, IndyStar, MirrorIndy & more.
​
​They were recognized by the Hearst Journalism Awards Program in 2015 earning Third Place in the National Photojournalism Championship working on a short-term project about gentrification in San Francisco. The Society of Professional Journalists, NPPA, Ohio News Photographers Association, Indiana News Photographers Association and CPOY have also recognized their work.
​
​If not photographing, they can be found practicing the drums, writing poetry, or riding a skateboard, often accompanied by their dog, Ruby.
​
​Lee is primarily available for work across the Midwest but is open to travel further distances when needed.
