Lee Klafczynski (they/them) is a photojournalist based in Indianapolis, Indiana. 


They are a former staff photographer for The Akron Beacon Journal. They graduated from Kent State University in May 2015 with a B.S. in Visual Journalism, with a concentration in photojournalism. 


Lee is captivated by and has a great love of people. They enjoy making quirky feature photographs and have a passion for sports culture. 

Their recent work has been published in The New York Times, ESPN, LA Times, BuzzFeed and the IndyStar. 

They have also been recognized by the Hearst Journalism Awards Program in 2015 where they earned Third Place in the National Photojournalism Championship, Society of Professional Journalists, NATIONAL PRESS PHOTOGRAPHERS ASSOCIATION, Ohio News Photographers Association and College Photographer of the Year.

If not photographing, they can be found watching Harry Potter or walking their Beabull, Ruby.
